Think life might be slow at a nursing home? Our activity directors keep everyone busy with a monthly calendar jammed-packed with activity options, including holiday parties, birthday parties, games, guest speakers and more. MediLodge of Howell also owns new 22-passenger bus with wheelchair access so that adventuresome residents can join staff for outings to favorite destinations.

Here a few of our residents' favorite things to do:

Women’s Club
Know of any women with a gift for gab? Well, we've got a few at MediLodge of Howell. Every week, the ladies in our Women's Club gather for an afternoon of lively discussion, hot tea, and sweet delights. It's a time for old friends to reminisce, new friends to get to know one another and just plain good company.

Hospitality Committee
You've probably heard of the Welcome Wagon, now meet MediLodge of Howell's Hospitality Committee! Existing residents love to welcome new residents. Each month, members of the committee hand-deliver party invitations to each new resident's room. Come party time, they are personally escorted to the party where they are introduced, enjoy tea and snacks, and receive a welcome gift. Its a great way for new residents to start feeling right at home.

Monthly Auction
One of the most popular activities at MediLodge of Howell is the monthly auction. Staff brings in 10 or so items that have been purchased by the facility or donated by our supportive community. Residents are given $300 bucks (play dollars) to compete for wares and Co-Activity Director Jen masters the gavel. Sold to the highest bidder!

Holidays
MediLodge of Howell residents and staff don't need much of an excuse to celebrate, but the holidays make it especially easy. Picnicking and parades over the 4th of July; passing out treats to children and grandchildren at Halloween; spiced cider and a fabulous Thanksgiving feast; toasting German culture at Oktoberfest; and crafting all year long in preparation for the annual Christmas bazaar, these are just a few of the ways we celebrate life and living at MediLodge of Howell.

Hosting Special Events
At MediLodge of Howell, we love to have people visit. In fact, we love it so much that we host several events each year for our residents, their families, and our community. Mario Mancini, one of our most popular entertainers, visits to play old-time music, Elvis tunes, and cater to special requests. Our facility also hosts educational events like Alzheimer's Awareness to keep residents and their families informed.

In addition, MediLodge of Howell offers residents special outings several times a Month including:

Parshaville Cider Mill
Swartz Creek Horse Racing
Howell Festivals and Parades
Soaring Eagle Casino
Howell Community Theater
Detroit Tiger Game
Local restaurants like Bennigan’s and Dairy Queen
Annual Senior Prom and Senior Olympics

For a complete list of all we do, please ask one of our Activity Directors for a copy of our monthly calendar. Family members and friends are always welcome to participate in any of our activities your family member would love to see you and we would, too.
